Gonadotropins are hormones that regulate the function of the gonads — the ovaries in females and the testes in males.


🔹 Types of Gonadotropins:


1. LH (Luteinizing Hormone)


Triggers ovulation in females


Stimulates testosterone production in males


2. FSH (Follicle-Stimulating Hormone)


Stimulates egg follicle development in females


Helps regulate sperm production in males


3. hCG (Human Chorionic Gonadotropin)


Produced by the placenta during pregnancy


Mimics LH and is used in fertility treatments

LH & FSH: Made in the anterior pituitary gland


hCG: Made by the placenta during pregnancy
